Hi Hunter fans,
The Flyer is working today but only loading every other chair. We had 1-2" of new snow last night so conditions: dust on crust. It is 34 now, sunny but windy.
Enjoy!

Hunter - MTV reality update Feb 17
Hi All,
Just thought I would up-date you on the MTV show filmed in
Hunter last season which is set to air on Feb 27. See below link.
I do not think this will have a positive effect on Hunter’s
reputation.
The F lift broke down again today after a brief time and the
Flyer has yet to move since Wednesday. Hunter was a mob scene
today.
A-Purna & Claire’s were both closed after a short time.
Snow making too was brief – about 12 hours - to cover some of the more heavily
used trails.
Snow expected tonight 2-4” but should melt quickly as temps
climb well above freezing into early next week. Forecast below.
Many have asked about the very sad and sudden passing of Jean
Slutzky age 62, David’s wife, and I have attached the link to the obit:

Spring conditions are around the corner,
Jon

Hunter Feb 16
Hi All,
Just thought I would give you an update on the
lift situation.
The Flyer has been down since Wednesday with a
fried circuit board. A replacement was flown in from Breckinridge and is
supposedly being installed today. It will have to be inspected and tested before
loading passengers.
The motor on the “F” lift which was recently
overhauled has blown and there is no timetable for fixing it that I am aware
of.
Hunter is running with Z, D & B on the
main hill and they are running a shuttle bus to/from the west side.
The weather has been very warm and rainy.
Temps Wed 45, yesterday 57 and 48 today. The snow has been receding from the
sides and there are numerous brown patches showing. I was told that the east
side trails are littered with pebbles.
The weather is supposed to turn colder tonight
with some snow on Saturday night maybe 1-3 inches but warmer again next week. I
am not aware of any plans to make snow in the near future but that could change
considering Presidents week is around the corner.
Van Winkles in the KMC is suspending happy
hour starting tonight and through all of next week.
Get ready for some variable
conditions,
Jon

Hunter January 18
Hi all you Hunter fans,
Today was another “10” with great sun / visibility and temps from 9 to 24
now with no wind. We had 7-8” of dry fluffy powder yesterday. All front side
trails were groomed except Racer’s, Ike, & Gunhill all of which had some
guns going and whale humps. The grooming made for excellent & consistent
squeaky powder conditions. F was running today but not sure why as it wasn’t
needed. Did not go west – still too dark at this time of year. Friday and the
weekend are looking to be a lot warmer and without any precipitation which is
good. Expect some sizeable crowds.
Be safe, have fun,
Jon

Mostly cloudy, with a low around 25.

Hunter - NWS weather alert for Saturday
Hi all,
Please note the following from the National Weather Service
for our area in addition to a rare “flash freeze” alert as the temp will drop
about 40 degrees in an hour early Saturday morning creating about a 1/4” of ice
over which 1-2” of snow will fall. All paved and hard surfaces will become
extremely dangerous for driving or walking. You can only imagine what that will
do to the slopes. FYI - It is now 58 with heavy rain, wind &
fog.
Be careful, be safe,
Jon

Hunter January 10
Hello Hunter fans,
It was a fabulous Wednesday to ski – the second Wednesday in a row that
equaled the best of the season. It was cold very early at 9 but quickly warmed
up under brilliant sun to 36 now. There was no wind.
The grooming was exceptional with corduroy on every front side trail (did
not go west) and no snow guns blowing to mess things up. Milky Way & Dropoff
were closed but the rest offered very consistent ego snow without humps, ice or
cat tracks. There was no F or D as is normal for a non-holiday midweek day. By
late morning there was a line to the back of the Flyer corral.
I’m afraid that the rest of the week into the MLK weekend will not be so
nice weather-wise as forecast below. Very warm & wet with rain and mixed
precipitation Thursday through Saturday then a freeze on Sunday.
Happy trails,
Jon
