Hunter - sad news

Hello long time fans of Hunter,
It is with profound sadness to advise you of the passing of Karl Plattner yesterday.
He was arguably the last of the Slutzky era icons that helped make Hunter what it is today and most likely had a hand in teaching many of you how to enjoy the sport as the founder and long time head of Hunter’s ski school.
He was also honored by the Austrian government as an ambassador of that country.
Here is a link to a 2017 article about Hunter & Karl:  https://dailygazette.com/article/2017/02/16/when-hunter-was-the-place-to-ski-and-be
No further information is available at this time.
Sadly,
Jon

Winter Break - Hunter Mountain

Hello All,
FYI – for those of you who are compelled to watch the pathetic MTV reality series filmed last year at Hunter, the shows have been switched to MTV2 and episodes 4, 5, 6, 7 and the finale 8 will be aired in a marathon Saturday, March 31 beginning at 1:55 pm and running episodes consecutively.
Pond skimming is scheduled for April 7 but if you look at the web cams it appears they would have to push what’s left of the snow in a mound and then dig it out to form a pond. The recent rain and warm weather have really taken a toll on the mountain. Mid-station looks like an obstacle course of snow and brown spots – it’s ugly.  https://www.huntermtn.com/web-cams/
The Copper Tree has been closed for the season.
Happy Easter & Passover,
Jon
