Hello skiers,
Another great day of skiing! If tomorrow is as good as today then this could be the best or equal to the best full ski week of the season. The snowfall total yesterday was 4 - 6" depending on where you were. The wind blew it around last night which made the grooming perfect on all trails except Racer's & Claire's which were left "as is". The corderoy powder was real ego cruising snow under bright sunny skies but there was a bit of nasty wind out of the west. Temps ranged from 19 to 27. Claire's & Racer's were good early but once they got scraped off it was fairly slick underneath but not to despair, the rest of the mtn stayed sweet all morning. Apurna was open but I didn't care to try it. The main line H-B-K held up the best under another fairly light crowd. The east side trails held pockets of wind blown powder and were fun to ski also. Rt 80 was good but windy with excellent grooming as well. There was no snow making (except from mother nature) and no need for it now as the mtn is in excellent shape. Lifts were operating normally.
The temp should remain cold and preserve all that nice new snow.
This weekend's movie Fri - Tues is: "Invictus" then Wed - Sun of next week: "Up In The Air".
Reminder that Saturday is Orville's 93rd, the big Mardi Gras party by the main bar followed by a rail jam, torchlight parade & fireworks.
Ski ya, http://hunterskiscene.blogspot.com/
