Hunter skiing 12/17

Hi All,
Finally a day worth waiting for. Bitter cold -2 (minus two) at the summit, 14 at the base without the wind which was steady 10-15 mph and gusts to 25 so wind chills way below zero BUT great machine made powder on most slopes, quad running a bit slow but steady, lots of sun. The wind was actually worse at the base and parts of mid-station than at the summit but the quad off-ramp had been wind polished to a bullet proof glaze. Best run today: Cliff / Ike followed by Minya / Lowercross. The terrain park and HBK were quite nice as well. Worst: Racer's with frozen glazed bumps (did not try it) and Huega - dark, windy with marbles on hardpack. I did not go west due to dark and windy vs. skiing on the front side in the sun. Guns were on in many spots and totally covering Lower K27 which should be ready to open tomorrow. Wayout too received a heavy dose of snow and should also be groomed /ready for tomorrow (it was open today but really not a smart option according to ski patrol). By the way, the quad was down for 3 hrs yesterday (9:30 -12:30) due to mechanical reasons. A few who skied yesterday pm said they enjoyed it as long as they stayed near or under the guns. Continued forecast cold weather is perfect for more snow making so tomorrow and the weekend look to be very nice just remember to wear everything you own. Weekend movie: Christmas Carol. The temp is now 18, a high for the day and the flags are still flying straight out!!
