Hunter skiing Mon 12/14

Hi All,
After nasty wet weather yesterday from about noon till 10pm and quad shutdowns, today got off to a late start. Temps stayed in the upper 30's all day, with short periods of sun and no wind. When the sun disappeared, the light was flat. Hunter was pretty much a ghost town today. The snow was very wet, heavy, clumpy and bumpy on most runs. It was also quite hard where there was no sun or skier traffic. Good grooming was not possible with the soft snow. The later one went out today the better the conditions became. Best early runs were in the sun (when it was out): Eside, Lowercross down thru Kennedy. Everything else was a bit rough especially Cliff / Ike which was an exercise in edge control, i.e survival. Didn't ski Racer's as it was very hard, slick & bumpy but open. The west side hadn't even opened by noon and even if it had, I wouldn't have tried it. There is a mixed bag of tricks forecast for Tuesday and then we go into the deep freeze Wed right thru next weekend. For those of you inconvenienced by the quad failures on both Sat & Sun it was attributed to bad safety limit switches on the towers which had frozen. There were no such quad problems today and "B" was the only other lift running (not counting H1). Next weekend's movie: "Christmas Carol". http://hunterskiscene.blogspot.com/
Ski ya,
Jon
